S-Adenosyl L-Methionine(SAMe), Methylcobalamin and L-5 Methyltetrahydrofolate Calcium Tablet

Product Composition

S-Adenosyl methionine is a common cosubstrate involved in methyl group transfers, transsulfuration, and aminopropylation. Although these anabolic reactions occur throughout the body, most SAM-e is produced and consumed in the liver. More than 40 methyl transfers from SAM-e are known, to various substrates such as nucleic acids, proteins, lipids and secondary metabolites. It is made from adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and methionine by methionine adenosyltransferase. L-5-Methyltetrahydrofolate Calcium is a dietary supplement specifically formulated for the dietary management of patients with unique nutritional needs requiring increased folate levels. 5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid is a methylated derivate of tetrahydrofolate. It is a predominant active form of folate found in foods and in the blood circulation, accounting for 98% of folates in human plasma.

⇒ It also play important role in the prevention of other diseases, including dementia and certain types of cancer.
⇒ Regulate homocysteine level and reduces the risk of cardiovascular disorders.

Mechanism of action:

S-Adenosylmethionine is an intermediate metabolite of methionine. Its involvement in methylation assists in cellular growth and repair, maintains the phospho-bilipid layer in cell membranes. It also helps in the maintenance of the action of several hormones and neurotransmitters that affect mood. Highest concentration are found in the brain and the liver. S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMe) is a natural substance present in the cells of the body. It is a direct metabolite of the essential amino acid L-methionine. SAMe plays a crucial biochemical role in the body by donating a one-carbon methyl group in a process called transmethylation. SAMe, formed from the reaction of L-methionine and adenosine triphosphate catalyzed by the enzyme S-adenosylmethionine synthetase, is the methyl-group donor in the biosynthesis of both DNA and RNA nucleic acids, phospholipids, proteins, epinephrine, melatonin, creatine and other molecules.

⇒ Helps keep the nervous system and red blood cells healthy
⇒ Required for the formation of red blood cells and DNA
⇒ Important for protein metabolism

L-5-Methyltetrahydrofolate is an active metabolite of folic acid and a methyl group donor in one-carbon metabolism reactions. It regulates important cellular functions such as DNA biosynthesis, gene expression regulation, amino acid synthesis and metabolism, and myelin synthesis and repair. As only form of folate that can cross the blood-brain barrier, it acts as a cofactor in the production of monoamine neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine. L-5-Methyltetrahydrofolate is also involved in red blood cell formation. It also plays a critical role in methylating homocysteines into methionine by acting as a methyl donor in a reaction catalyzed by vitamine B12-dependent methionine synthase. Homocysteine must either be further metabolized via transulfuration to become cysteine, taurine, and glutathione via a B6-dependent process, or re-methylated to become methionine again. Methionine formed from remethylation of homocysteine by levomefolic acid forms the downstream metabolite S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), which is involved in numerous biochemical methyl donation reactions, including reactions forming monoamine neurotransmitters.
